About Rays for Rare

Rays for Rare, formerly Corwyn’s Cause, was founded in 2017 in memory of Corwyn, a little boy born with a rare brain malformation who faced many complex medical challenges throughout his life.

While receiving hospital care, Corwyn’s family discovered a network of charities providing visits, special guests, comfort items, and meaningful support. But when care transitioned to the home, that support disappeared entirely — no organizations existed to serve medically fragile children and their families outside of a hospital setting. Corwyn passed away at home in November 2016, and from that profound loss, Corwyn’s Cause was born — a mission to ensure no family faces that journey alone.

Today, Rays for Rare supports medically fragile children and their families by providing advocacy, education, comfort, and services throughout their most difficult times.

None of this would be possible without the incredible people who carry this mission forward — our dedicated Board Members, compassionate volunteers, tireless staff, and generous supporters. Every effort, every contribution, and every act of kindness has allowed us to show up for one of the most vulnerable communities there is.
